Once upon a time I made a leap of faith and decided, quite abruptly, that I needed to move. All the stars aligned and I ended up living in an old brick home with shutters on Oak Lane in Provo, Utah. It turned out that one of my neighbors was Lisa, and that alone was reason enough to have made it worthwhile to live there. Lisa I just loved photographing you and your beautiful girls and I can't get over your beautiful eyes! Love you lots and lots and lots! xo, Rebecca

So much beauty!
The photo below was taken with my 70-200mm lens and I was quite some distance away...I wonder...
I once heard that the Huntsman Family has an employee whose sole responsibility is to coordinate the massive extended family photo they do as well as manage the Christmas card production and distribution that contains the photo. You might think that is a bit excessive, but anyone who has tried to coordinate an extended family photo probably wishes they had some extra help as well! Despite all the hassle of coordinating schedules and clothes, deciding on a location and a photographer, I think that these extended family photos are truly a treasure to each family. Hats off to Richard and Connie...
Anyone who knows Mindy and Justin knows just how lucky they are to count them as friends. One time when I was in Utah visiting from Texas Mindy threw my daughter Sydney her 3rd birthday party at their house. On top of the birthday party it ended up also being an open house for me to see friends I hadn't seen for a long time. Mindy made a cake with white frosting and pink and purple polka dots for Sydney and had party favors and balloons. She went all out, just because. Because that's just the kind of person Mindy is. And when I needed to stay the night in town after bringing my kids down to see their...
Moments after the photo below was taken and we had just walked a few yards away, an enormous tree fell down right where we had been taking pictures. The crash was so loud that people came running from all corners of the park to see what had happened. Thank goodness no one got hurt! Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City was buzzing with activity that day...lots of photographers there as usual, families with picnics, and of course, lots of dogs. In fact, I saw the smallest dog I have ever seen in my life! I said to my husband that it was closer to the size of a rat than a dog!...
Two hours straight west of Salt Lake City, on I-80, right before you get to mile marker number 10, is a place some have called the best rest stop in the country. I must say, I have to agree! The Bonneville Salt Flats are a place like no where else. Motorcar racing has taken place at the Salt Flats since 1914. Racing takes place at part of the Bonneville Salt Flats known as the Bonneville Speedway. There are several major land speed events that take place at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Bonneville "Speed Week" takes place mid-August followed by "World of Speed" in September...
Ogden, Utah is a pretty great place to live and there's no family that knows that better than the Caldwell family. As the mayor of Ogden, Mike has led this community since 2012, a place which was recently rated by Forbes as the 3rd best place to raise a family!
A scenic drive through Ogden Canyon leads to the tiny and charming town of Huntsville, Utah located just off the shores of Pineview Reservoir and nestled next to the back side of the Wasatch Range. A short drive up the mountain leads to Snowbasin Ski Resort which was opened in 1939, and is one of the oldest continually operating ski resorts...
Brooke and her beautiful children look like they just stepped out of the pages of a magazine and it was so beautiful to see the love they have for each other through my lens on this warm Spring evening. Brooke, I hope these photos will bring you happiness and joy for many years to come!
When the kids went to sit down, one of them accidentally let a little fart out and the resulting expressions are priceless! So funny!

Lizzy's senior pictures! This Boise High Senior only has 5 days of school left! She is Utah bound for college where she will be studying at the University of Utah, a family tradition. She will have quite the head start because she has loaded up on AP classes taking 6 just in this last semester! This Boise High cheerleader has lots of people cheering for her, she's got the whole world at her feet and to quote Dr. Seuss, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose...Oh the places you'll go!" Congratulations Lizzy! I'm so glad our paths...
Many years ago, ahem, more years than I care to count, I was a Senior Rep for Reflections Photography in Manhattan, Kansas. Out of curiosity I googled this studio to see if they are still around and there is a Reflections Photography in that same area, but it's not the same photographer. I wonder what ever happened to Jill, the photographer who took my senior pictures. I was recommended to be a senior rep by this girl who had been the senior rep the previous year, a cheerleader who was pretty and popular. I had no idea that she knew who the semi-nerdy, awkward editor of the yearbook was. The photographer...
So what exactly is a photo party you ask? I was wondering the same thing recently. My husband told me about a photographer that lived near where he used to live in Washington who did Photo Parties all the time that became quite the rage and so I thought I'd give it a whirl. In the photography circles I associate with most it seems that these are often called mini sessions, but I wanted to distinguish between a mini session, which in my business is a 45 minute session, and these smaller, 10-15 minute themed sessions designed mainly for small children to capture them in the fleeting stages of childhood....
